Everything runs directly in your browser using WebGPU or WebAssembly, so your images are never uploaded to any server.
The tool uses the RMBG image segmentation model, powered by Transformers.js, which runs machine learning inference directly in your browser. When you upload an image, the AI analyzes the entire scene to create a precise mask that separates the subject from the background. This approach handles complex cases like hair strands, semi-transparent objects, and irregular edges that simple color-matching tools cannot handle.
Simply upload your image and the AI automatically removes the background. There's no need to manually select areas or adjust settings. The AI handles portraits, product photos, animals, objects, and more. The first time you use the tool, the AI model needs to download (about 30 MB), but it's cached in your browser for instant use on future visits.
For images with very uniform backgrounds or if you want precise control, switch to Manual Mode. This provides a magic-wand style flood-fill tool where you click on background areas to remove them. You can adjust the tolerance to control how aggressively similar colors are matched. This is useful for cleaning up simple graphics, logos, and icons.
All processing runs entirely in your browser. Your images are never uploaded to any server. The AI model runs locally using WebGPU (when available) or WebAssembly as a fallback, ensuring your files remain completely private and secure on your device. The resulting PNG file preserves full transparency.
The processed image is saved as a PNG file with full transparency support. The checkerboard pattern visible behind your edited image indicates transparent areas. When you download the file, these areas will be truly transparent, ready for use in presentations, websites, social media, e-commerce listings, print materials, and any design project.
