How to Merge PDF Files Online

Combining multiple PDF documents into one file is a common task for professionals, students, and anyone who works with digital documents. ClearUtil's PDF merger lets you do this entirely in your browser without uploading anything to a server. Simply drag and drop your PDF files into the upload area, arrange them in the order you want, and click "Merge PDFs" to produce a single combined document.

How It Works

This tool uses the pdf-lib JavaScript library to read each PDF file you provide, extract all of its pages, and copy them into a new combined PDF document. The process preserves the original formatting, fonts, images, and annotations from each source file. Because the merging happens locally using your browser's processing power, your files never leave your device.

When Would You Need to Merge PDFs?

Reorder Before Merging

The file list shows each uploaded PDF along with its page count. Use the up and down arrows to rearrange files into exactly the order you need before merging. You can also remove individual files if you added one by mistake. The total page count updates in real time so you always know how large your merged document will be.

Privacy and Security

All processing happens locally in your web browser. Your PDF files are never uploaded to any server, stored in a database, or shared with third parties. This makes the tool safe for merging confidential business documents, legal contracts, medical records, or any other sensitive material. Once you close the page, the data is gone.

Supported Browsers

This tool works in all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. For best performance with very large PDFs (over 100 pages), we recommend using a desktop browser with sufficient available memory.
